Starting from Marrakech at 8:30, a day’s visit to the famous Ouzoud waterfalls of about 100 metres in height. It constitutes one of the most spectacular natural beauty spots in Morocco and is about a three-hour drive.

Having arrived at the waterfalls, your local guide can take you on a hike to explore the surrounding countryside which offers olive trees, fig trees and colourful windflowers that thrive in this oasis of natural beauty. If you are lucky, you will catch a glimpse of some Barbary apes. Bird-watchers will enjoy a trip to the waterfalls, too, as will walkers who can enjoy the area at any time of year, except perhaps the hottest summer months of July and August.

There are plenty of places to have lunch with a view over the falls from their terraces. And a short walk will bring you to the top of the falls from where you can look down at their full magnificence and at the river. The best view of the falls is from the bottom – good exercise as well, as there are some 1000 steps!

On the road back to Marrakech at Demnate, we drive the six kilometres to Imi-n-Ifri, which in the local dialect means “door to the cave”. It is a natural rock bridge formed by an underground cave system collapsing. The views from here are spectacular as the Méhasseur River flows between the sheer, vertical rock walls.
